Two-time Cy Young Award winner Johan Santana added another accolade to his already impressive looking list last night at Citi Field. The southpaw flirted with history all night and when it was all set and done, Santana threw the first no-hitter in New York Mets history against the St. Louis Cardinals. It makes it all that more accomplishing for Santana, who is coming off of shoulder surgery that some thought he'd never come back in full health from, and it also was against arguably the best hitting team in Major League Baseball. It was not without controversy however, as in the 6th inning Carlos Beltran, ironically enough a former New York Met who was making his first trip back to Citi Field since he was dealt to the Giants last season, hit what appeared to be a fair ball that bounced off the foul line. Umpire Adrian Johnson did not think so though as he ruled it foul, and it eventually led to the no-hitter.
The St. Louis Dispatch responded with this gem:

Now I personally think his is wrong on almost all accounts. First of all, obviously it was a blown call, and the call for replay might get a lot stronger. But this is how baseball goes sometimes. You get calls to go your way and you get calls that don't go your way and you have got to play the game as it is. As for the STL Dispatch's "response" I think it's nothing less than childish and petty. Saltiness all around the Lou, I guess.
