We're a little late on this one, and I apologize for that.
Yesterday, the NBA announced that the New York Knicks and Detroit Pistons will be playing in London, England next January. This will be a regular season contest on January 17, 2013 and will be held from the historic O2 Arena in London, England.
Olympians Tyson Chandler and Carmelo Anthony will be returning to the city where they won Gold this past summer, and it will be a very nice treat, I think, for all the players involved. London is one of the world's best cities and a lot of the players that the Knicks have can definitely bring in some worldwide exposure. I think that the Pistons too can help from this, and get some of their young studs like Greg Monroe and Brandon Knight some exposure to a worldwide audience as well.
All in all, this is a great move for a league that is constantly finding success in expansion in the world. Just don't act like this will mean a team will move to London. Even though I expect a lot of talking heads to speculate it before and after the game is played.
