Russell Westbrook, Thunder agree to contract extension

The Oklahoma City Thunder have agreed to a contract extension for their talented All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook this afternoon. The terms of the deal were not disclosed by the team, but Yahoo! is reporting that it is a 5-year extension worth $80 million.

With the team now seemingly locked into place with Westbrook and superstar Kevin Durant for the foreseeable future, the Thunder may be primed to dominate the Western Conference for the next several years.

That is of course, if Westbrook can realize that his role is as a point guard, and not a shooter. Seems like it was not too long ago that there were trade rumors surrounding Westbrook and fellow Thunder player Kendrick Perkins for Celtic PG Rajon Rondo. Would the Thunder be better off with Rondo? Would they be better off with soon-to-be free agent Deron Williams?

We'll now most likely never know.
