The Saddest Thing Occurred in Today's Steeplechase Race

Ethiopian runner Getahun Birhan had an extremely tough day today in London. Competing in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase Race in the 2012 Olympics, Birhan's performance was less than stellar to say the least. Sadly for him, he went on to finish in last place in the event. That however turned out to be the least of his problems. As he was jogging the final turn and approaching the final hurdle, this happened:



What a tough series of events. Surely you have to feel sorry for him, even if you find a way to laugh at his misfortunes. If you do, I'd call you a terrible person, but admittedly I chuckled a little bit. Even with that said, this is probably the most unfortunate thing to happen in the Olympics thus far, aside from drubbing that the U.S. men's basketball team gave to Nigera's men's basketball team yesterday.
