According to an exclusive report from CSN-Bay Area, San Francisco Giants outfielder Melky Cabrera has been ruled ineligible to win the National League (as well as MLB's) batting title. Cabrera was previously suspended by Major League Baseball due to testing positive for testosterone. According to the report, Cabrera asked MLB to make him ineligible, so it appears MLB has granted his request.
Cabrera was batting .346 at the time of his suspension. He will be a free agent following the 2012 season.
