Terry Francona is the New Cleveland Indians Manager

(H/T Deadspin)
The biggest news of the day thus far came through the wire about an hour ago. FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal is reporting that Terry Francona,  is joining the Cleveland Indians to be their new manager. The move, according to Rosenthal, is set to be announced on Monday afternoon. Francona was working as an analyst for ESPN, and before that of course, was the manager of the Boston Red Sox (2004-11) and also the Philadelphia Phillies (1997-2000).

The Indians recently fired Manny Acta, and former Indian and at-the-time bench coach Sandy Alomar, Jr. was named the interim manager for the final six games of the season. Alomar, Jr. was expected to be given an interview for the full-time position. Obviously, Alomar, Jr. did not win it but I wouldn't be shocked to see him remain on the staff.

Francona was of course notoriously remembered for being on the Boston ballclub that epically collapsed last season and was subsequently let go by the club. The upper echelon proceeded to unjustifiably smear him afterwards, which was absolutely wrong, but now Francona is past that, and is headed to an Indians club that has some pretty solid amount of talent, but may need a lot of guidance.

I think that this is a move that can help both parties. It can definitely help out Francona's image, and the Indians club can definitely get a lot of lessons learned and a lot of guidance from one of the best strategists and minds in baseball.
