UCLA to Reveal a John Wooden Statue Outside of Pauley Pavilion

The "Wizard of Westwood" is going to be immortalized at the university he helped put on the map for its basketball program. John Wooden, who passed away at the age of 99 in 2010, is going to have a statue outside of Pauley Pavilion according to UCLABruins.com. The statue is to be revealed on October 26 at 2:30 PM PDT, near the North Plaza.

Wooden's statue's creation was helped in part from an extremely generous donation from several UCLA boosters and the statue itself will be made by Blair Buswell. Buswell is notably recognized for making the busts at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Also according to UCLABruins.com, the statue's unveiling will be a part of "Welcome Back Pauley Week," as the famed arena underwent some serious renovations. The Bruins begin play in their hype-filled 2012-13 season on November 9 against the Indiana State Sycamores.
