- The Buffalo Bills have decided to use the franchise tag on safety Jairus Byrd, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. This will allow for guard Andy Levitre to hit the open market.
- The Cincinnati Bengals will use their franchise tag on defensive end Michael Johnson, as opposed to right tackle Andre Smith, Terry McCormick of National Football Post reported.
- The Indianapolis Colts have decided to use their franchise tag on punter Pat McAfee. Mike Garafolo of USA TODAY Sports reported it first.
- A source informed NFL Network reporter Albert Breer that the Denver Broncos would place the franchise tag on tackle Ryan Clady.
- Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that the Chicago Bears will be placing the franchise tag on 3-technique defensive tackle Henry Melton.
