Will Beatty Signs Deal with Giants

Left tackle Will Beatty signed a contract this afternoon to return to the New York Giants for 2013 and beyond.

Beatty, 27, reached a deal with the Giants that will be worth $38.75 million over five years. $19 million is guaranteed, and that is all from NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

Beatty was one of the best left tackles in the NFL in the 2012 NFL season. He was graded as the 12th best offensive tackle according to Pro Football Focus' grading system, and was their ninth best left tackle. While he had 11 penalties last season he did a great job in run and pass blocking, only allowing 25 total pressures. That included 0 QB hits, 22 hurries and just three sacks.

To put that in perspective, the only tackles to grade out higher than him by PFF's grade system to give up less sacks were D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Ryan Clady and elite left tackle Joe Thomas gave up just as many sacks.

The Giants' perspective should now be leaned towards whether or not they will be signing star wide receiver Victor Cruz to a long-term deal.
